Quick post and update

Backup

First of all, thanks for all your feedback. There were a lot of great ideas, like a subscribe button. I hope to implement them all.

I decided I needed to setup a backup system.

To back up your website you need to do two things:
1. Backup your files
2. Backup your database

1. Backup your files

Step 1
Download a free ftp program. I like Winscp(windows), but there are others e.g. Filezilla(windows), Core FTP(windows) and Cyberduck(Mac).

Step 2
Connect using your ftp details. These details can be found by logging into your hosting and going to ftp accounts.

Step 3
Once connected copy all the files to a folder on your pc.

Your files are now backed up to your pc.

2. Backup your database

Step1
Login to your website hosting.

Step 2
Navigate to your SQL database.

Step 3
Export a copy.

3. Repeat every month

Now that it is backed up you need to do it every month or however often you deem necessary.
You can also create scripts to back up your files and database automatically. I am not going to go into details on how to do it, because depending on your setup it can vary greatly.
